FORT HOOD, TEXAS (WKOW) -- A military official at Fort Hood tells 27 News that to his knowledge, there are three listed deaths so far from the 467th Medical Detachment out of Madison.
Those include Sgt. Amy Krueger of Kiel, Russell Seager of Racine, and another - Libardo Caraveo, from Wood Bridge, Virginia. Caraveo was also assigned to the Madison-based unit.
So far, at least four other soldiers from the unit were injured Thursday. They are Spc. Grant Moxon of Lodi; Sgt. John Pagel from Sauk County; Dorothy Carskadon, a team leader at Madison's Veterans Hospital; and Amber Bahr of Random Lake.
A memorial service honoring the victim's from the shooting will take place Tuesday. President Barack Obama is expected to attend.
In his weekly address, Obama called the attack "all the more heartbreaking and all the more despicable" because it occurred on the nation's largest Army post.
The suspected shooter is Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, an Army psychiatrist. On Saturday, Hasan's brother described his sibling as peaceful, and hoped Hasan will be treated fairly in the legal system.
In total, 13 people were killed on Thursday; 30 others were injured. Witnesses told investigators that Hasan shouted "Allahu akbar!" before opening fire in a processing center on the base.
While a motive isn't clear, Hasan had complained to family members of discrimination.
