MADISON (WKOW) -- A former Badger football player appeared in Dane County court Thursday on charges of battery after an alleged bar fight last weekend.
Erasmus James entered a not guilty plea at Thursday's hearing on felony battery charges.
Police arrested James Monday after he allegedly lost his temper when a bartender wouldn't serve him after closing time.
According to the criminal complaint, when a friend tried to calm him down, James punched him in the face, causing a gash that needed five stitches.
A status hearing is scheduled for the end of November.
James played defensive end for the University of Wisconsin-Madison and entered the NFL draft in 2005.
