MADISON (WKOW) -- The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs has decided to reinstate the administrator of the state’s largest nursing home for veterans.
Secretary John Scocos reinstated Bill Crowley as commandant of the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. Crowley was fired in August.
Scocos told agency employees the reinstatement was appropriate after the Department of Justice last week decided not to press charges against anyone in connection with irregularities in spending at the home. The report did however, find miscommunication and confusion at all levels of the agency.
Crowley was fired by then-Acting Secretary Ken Black while Scocos was serving in Iraq. Crowley had complained he learned of his firing in a mass e-mail that went to all staff.
