Woman charged after allegedly leaving child on a sidewalk
MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- A Milwaukee area woman charged with felony child abandonment after allegedly taking her friend's baby and leaving the child on a sidewalk in West Allis.
Nineteen-year-old Diandra Kroening was charged Friday in Milwaukee County.
According to the criminal complaint, Kroening went to a friend's house in Wauwatosa on Monday, and the friend asked Kroening to watch her 10-month-old daughter for a few minutes so she could take a shower.
When the friend came back 20 minutes later, Kroening was gone, along with the baby and a diaper bag.
The mother told officer Kroening didn't have permission to take her daughter.
Later Monday, a couple called police, saying they saw someone leave a baby on a West Allis sidewalk.
The child was not hurt.
Kroening was in custody Friday and could not be reached for comment.
