MADISON (WKOW) -- It was a colorful celebration of culture at the Alliant Energy Center.
Music filled the Exhibition Hall for the Hmong New Year.
The event featured traditional dishes, clothing and dance performances.
"The New Year Celebration is very important for our culture, people coming together, old friends, new friends gather to celebrate this very special tradition that we'd done for many many years," said Organizer Phillip Yang.
Organizers say the festivities also allow the Hmong youth to reconnect with their culture.
Wisconsin has one of the largest Hmong populations in the U.S., along with Minnesota and California.
