MADISON (WKOW) -- A Madison police official said the man who is accused of shooting two of his children and his girlfriend has been released from a hospital, arrested and booked into the Dane County jail.
"At this time, Donte Beasley has been booked on one count of attempted first degree intentional homicide," Madison police spokesperson Joel DeSpain told 27 News.
Authorities alleged Beasley, 38, shot Zenolia Rice, 42, and their two children, an eight year old girl and a seven year old boy, after the couple argued over sex in Rice's Loreen Drive duplex Saturday morning.
Court records state the girl was shot in the back of the head and the boy in the face. Records state Rice was shot several times.
DeSpain said quick, first responder work by a neighbor, police officers and paramedics helped the victims survive. DeSpain said the victims remain hospitalized in stable condition.
Authorities said Beasley was hospitalized after cutting himself with a knife.
Dane County district attorney Brian Blanchard said police reports are still being reviewed and Beasley's initial court appearance on the current, tentative charge and possibly other charges has yet to be set.
