NEW YORK (WKOW) -- ABC's Charles Gibson is set to step away from his seat at the "World News" anchor desk on December 18.
Gibson, 66, announced earlier this fall that he planned to retire after more than three decades at ABC News.
Gibson, who plans to continue as an occasional contributor, has anchored "World News" since 2006 and was co-host of "Good Morning America" for much of the 20 years before that.
"Good Morning America" co-anchor Diane Sawyer is replacing Gibson.
