Arrests made after alleged theft from mall parking lot

MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison Police arrested two men over the weekend for allegedly stealing a GPS unit from a car parked at East Towne Mall.

The incident started at around 2:45 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot, when a couple of shoppers saw a man break the glass out of a Honda Accord, lift something out then jump into a waiting car.

A loss prevention officer with Boston Store took down the information and later spotted the getaway car at the Princeton Club. There, he saw one of the suspects get out and start casing a car in that lot.

MPD responded and arrested 27-year-old Reishus M. Richardson and 27-year-old Travis H. Rupp. Officers found several items in their car, including a GPS unit stolen from the Honda at East Towne, a hammer, a laptop and marijuana.

Richardson faces tentative charges of criminal damage to property, entry into locked vehicle and a probation violation. Rupp faces tentative charges of entry into locked vehicle, casual possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
