MADISON (WKOW) -- It's been a long haul, but the annual Toys for Tots campaign has been a great success thanks to such a caring community.
This year we received 35,000 toys for the annual campaign.
A couple hundred came into our 27 studios in the past few days.
The Marines arrived Tuesday to collect them for distribution over the next few days at the Alliant Energy Center.
The Marines started organizing the campaign way back in September and they say they're proud of how the community responded.
"We know there's a lot of people out there facing difficulties they haven't faced in the past." said Staff Sergeant Justin Bradley, "and we appreciate the generosity we've seen and the outpouring of help from the surrounding community."
Distribution, for families who pre-registered only, begins tomorrow from nine a-am to four pm-m.
Seven thousand children will get five toys each.
Rayovac provided all the batteries.
And if you'd still like to donate a toy or volunteer to help out over the next few days, just show up at the Alliant Energy Center through Friday, and the Salvation Army will put you to work.
Again, our thanks to everyone who made this year's campaign a success.
