UPDATE: Actress Brittany Murphy dies of "natural causes"

LOS ANGELES (WKOW) -- Brittany Murphy's family says the 32-year-old actress was suffering from flu-like symptoms in the days before her death.

The Assistant Chief Coroner says the office will conduct an autopsy to determine what killed Murphy. At this time, officials say her death appears to be from natural causes, and while the reported illness could be a contributing factor, it would be weeks before a final determination is made.

Authorities say prescription medications were taken from Murphy's home and they will contact her personal physician to get a better sense of her medical history.

LOS ANGELES (WKOW) -- A Los Angeles hospital spokeswoman says actress Brittany Murphy has died. She was 32.

A Los Angeles coroner official says Murphy died of natural causes. She apparently collapsed in the bathroom Sunday morning.

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Spokeswoman Sally Stewart says Murphy died at 10:04 a.m. Sunday.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Devon Gale says crews responded to a call at 8 a.m. Sunday from a home in Los Angeles that is listed as belonging to British screenwriter Simon Monjack, who is married to Murphy. Gale says one person was transported to a hospital.

Messages left for Murphy's manager, agent and publicist weren't immediately returned. Los Angeles Police have launched an investigation into her death.
