MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A Milwaukee police officer shot a 26-year-old man in the face after the suspect allegedly charged at officers with a knife. The injury isn't believed to be life-threatening.
Police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz says officers were responding to a woman's domestic-violence call just after midnight Friday. The dispatcher who took her call told officers the suspect could be heard in the background saying he'd kill police when they arrived.
Officers arrived and saw the suspect through a window holding a knife. As police entered the home the suspect allegedly charged at them and one officer fired, hitting him in the cheek.
No one else was hurt.
Schwartz says the suspect has a lengthy arrest record for offenses including burglary and drug possession.
