NEW YORK (WKOW) -- Prosecutors in New York City say a city brochure that tries to teach "a safe way to inject heroin" is wrong headed because heroin is still dangerous.
Bridget Brennan, a special narcotics prosecutor, says the brochure is concerning because of the glut of heroin on the market in New York, an it's increased use by young people.
Health officials distributes the pamphlets at homeless shelters, jails, and syringe exchange programs. They insist the pamphlet saves lives.
It includes tips like "prepare drugs carefully" and "take care of your veins," although it does not use the word "heroin" directly.
