LANCASTER (WKOW) -- A man has been found guilty and sentenced for killing a man in a drunk driving crash last summer.
In the early morning hours of June 7, Chase Cooper of Prairie Du Chien hit and killed Jason Hutchinson, also of Prairie Du Chien, on County Highway C in Woodman Township.
Cooper was arrested for Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a Motor Vehicle and Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a Motor Vehicle with Prohibited Alcohol Concentration.
Cooper appeared in Grant County court on December 30 and pleaded guilty to the latter charge. The other charge was dismissed.
Cooper was sentenced to three years of probation after the judge stayed the original sentence of 18 months in prison and 30 months of extended supervision.
During his probation, Cooper is required to serve 60 days in jail and not consume any alcohol. His driver's license has also been revoked for five years.
