LOS ANGELES (WKOW) -- "Avatar" rocketed past the $400 million mark this weekend, becoming the number one movie of 2009. For the fourth straight week, it was number one at the box office, taking in $48.5 million.
James Cameron's science fiction epic about humans and aliens at war on a distant plant has made $1.34 billion globally, second only to Cameron's "Titanic," which took in $1.8 billion.
Among new movies, Ethan Hawke's vampire thriller "Daybreakers" opened at No. 4 with $15 million, Amy Adams' romance "Leap Year" finished sixth with $9.2 million and Michael Cera's teen comedy "Youth in Revolt" was No. 9 with $7 million.
