REEDSBURG (WKOW) -- Reedsburg Police arrested a registered sex offender early Sunday morning. Matthew J. Reilly of Reedsburg was arrested in connection with the alleged sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl.
Police were called to a mobile home park early Sunday morning for a complaint of sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl. During the assault, the girl was also threatened with a knife. The girl was able to lock herself in a bathroom and use her cell phone to call her mother, who was sleeping in another room of the same residence. The mother then called police. Reilly, who was also a family member, left the mobile home before the police were called. he was arrested nearby by responding officers.
Police are requesting the following charges from the Sauk County District Attorney's Office: sexual assault of a child while armed, false imprisonment and carrying a concealed weapon.
Reilly was taken to the Sauk County Jail. He will be held there until his court appearance.
Reilly, who is registered on the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry, was convicted of "repeated acts of sexual assault against the same child" in July 1997.
