Wis. man will stand trial in stepson's murder

WEST BEND (WKOW) -- A Wisconsin man will stand trial for the death of his 14-year-old stepson, officials announced Wednesday.

Charles Avey, Sr., of Grafton is accused of killing the teenage boy to punish his wife. He is charged with first-degree intentional homicide and felony bail jumping.

Prosecutors say he strangled Cody Reetz with a necktie, apparently in order to get back at his wife and her family for meddling in his business.

Avey's wife says at the time of the murder, she was filing a separate police report against Avey for beating her with a hammer.

Avey is currently in jail with a $750,000 bail. His arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 28.
