ATLANTA, GA (WKOW) -- A Georgia man was found guilty of slapping a crying two-year-old at a Wal-Mart.
Roger Stephens of Stone Mountain was convicted second degree child cruelty Tuesday in a bench trial, which is held without a jury.
Stephens was 61 when he was arrested and will spend six months in jail followed by six months of home confinement.
A police report says Stephens approached a mother with the crying girl and said, "If you don't shut that baby up, I will shut her up for you."
When Stephens slapped her four or five times, Stephens said, "See, I told you I would shut her up."
