Family donates to Domestic Abuse Intervention Services
MADISON (WKOW) -- A family who lost a mother and sister to domestic violence hopes to help prevent future incidents.
Tuesday night, the family of Tracy Judd and daughter, Deja Renee, presented $28,134 to Domestic Abuse Intervention Services.
Last week, the family held a silent auction and raffle in memory of Tracy and Deja.
Police say Judd's boyfriend, Tyrone Adair killed her and their young daughter last month, and then killed two others before killing himself.
"There's Domestic Violence Awareness Month but domestic violence doesn't just happen in that month, it happens every day," Lisa Blanchard, Tracy's sister said, "One in 4 women have issues with domestic violence and it shouldn't just be one month that its made aware, its every day that it needs to be made aware."
The family says they hope to hold another fundraising event next year in memory of their loved ones.
