LOS ANGELES (WKOW) -- After weeks of bitter arguments with NBC execs, "Tonight Show" host Conan O'Brien will take the stage for the last time as host Friday night.
His reported $45 million settlement includes a $33 million payout for O'Brien and $12 million for his staff. The deal may also include a clause limiting how much O'Brien is allowed to say about NBC after leaving the network.
O'Brien is also allowed to return to the airwaves as early as September 1.
The deal paves the way for Jay Leno to return to the 11:35 p.m. time slot and leaves NBC having to rebuild its audience at late night and at 10:00 p.m., which had been cleared by Leno.
