WICHITA (WKOW) -- A jury heard testimony on Friday in the trial of a man accused of killing a doctor who performed late-term abortions.
Scott Roeder is accused of shooting Dr. George Tiller while the doctor was inside his church in May.
According to a court document, Roeder admitted to gunning down Tiller in order to prevent the deaths of unborn babies.
Roeder's lawyers are claiming justifiable homicide as his defense. His trial is expected to last two weeks.
Friday also marked the 37th anniversary of the controversial Supreme Court decision, Roe v. Wade, to allow a woman to abort her pregnancy.
