WASHINGTON (WKOW) -- We've warned you about scams involving fake charities to help Haitian victims. Now there's another fraud scheme designed to con Haitians out of their money.
The Embassy of Haiti is warning people about a scheme that promises to bring Haitian victims to the United States.
According to the Embassy, the scheme preys on grief-stricken Haitian-Americans with current U.S. Passports. Interested callers are told to wire $500 via Western Union, and in return they will allegedly receive a package and confirmation number to fly to Haiti to bring back five relatives still on the ground in Haiti.
If you've been contacted with an offer like this, contact the FBI at (866) 720-5721.
