PORTAGE (WKOW) -- With the Winter Games in Vancouver around the corner, we take a look at another winter sport that will make a rare appearance in the world spotlight, curling.
This popular sport is growing among kids, especially in Portage, where they have more kids learning the game than ever before.
"It reminds me of ice skating," little Madeline said.
"I like to throw the rock," young Trent said.
"Sweeping is fun," little Allie said.
There are many intricacies to the game these youngsters are picking up. On this particular, it was some kids first chance to throw the rock.
That is easier said than done, as balance is always an issue on the ice.
Once the kids get the balance down, then it's on to throwing the rock. Learning the strategy won't happen until the kids learn to throw the rock the length of the ice.
It's something many of these kids in Portage can't wait to do.
