MADISON (WKOW) -- Area organizations teamed up Tuesday to raise money for people still recovering from Haiti's quake.
The Caribbean and African Associations of Madison held a Haiti relief benefit on Wilson Street.
It included food, music and poetry, with all the money going to groups working in Haiti.
Mayor Dave Cieslewicz presented a plaque at Tuesday's common council meeting, where he announced Tuesday "Solidarity With The People Of Haiti Day."
"They're our kids and kin and so we have a desire and responsibility to reach out to them as well," said Godwin Amegashie with the African Association of Madison.
An area doctor is taking the plaque to Haiti to hang up at a facility there.
