NEW YORK (WKOW) -- Sunday's showdown between Indianapolis and New Orleans drew the highest number of viewers in the history of television.
The Nielsen Co. says the Super Bowl received its highest overnight ratings in 23 years and with 106.5 million people watching, surpassed the 1983 series finale of "M-A-S-H" to become the highest-watched program of all time.
That beats the "M-A-S-H" finale has 105.97 million viewers in an era where there were even fewer television sets.
Last year's game between Pittsburgh and Arizona drew 98.7 million viewers.
