Jacki's Kitchen: King Cake

MIDDLETON (WKOW) --- King cakes are a Mardi Gras tradition. They are thought to have originated in France during the 12th century.  I decided to get in the spirit of Mardi Gras I would stop in to Scott's Pastry Shoppe in Middleton where they make hundreds of these cakes just in time for Fat Tuesday.

Beware though, there is a small plastic baby inside these cakes. If you find it, you are the next one to hold a party.

To learn more about the history behind the cake and how to decorate one for the Mardi Gras click on the video icon.

Plus to learn more about Paczki day which is also Fat Tuesday click here. There you will also find a link to a recipe to make a King cake from scratch.
