OSHKOSH (WKOW) -- Wisconsin wildlife officials say the record-setting sturgeon, killed Saturday, may have been more than 100 years old.
Ron Bruch with the Department of Natural Resources says officials have not yet determined the age of the 212-pound fish. He says a preliminary look suggests it's at least a century old.
Experts say if the fish lived that long the female sturgeon would have laid some 11 million eggs in her lifetime.
The massive fish was speared Saturday by Ron Grishaber of Appleton. It measured 84 inches long.
