LA GRANDE, Ore. (WKOW) -- At a farm in Oregon's Grande Ronde Valley, geologists found bones from a woolly mammoth and other ice-age creatures.
Eastern Oregon University Professor Jay Van Tassell estimates the tusks to be 15,000 years old. In the January 20 find, no human bones or artifacts were discovered.
The tusks and other bones were taken to the university to be studied. Van Tassell says it's the first such discovery in the valley in more than 30 years.
The bones were donated to the school by the property owner, and the owner asked that the location of the find not be made public.
