MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison area high school students prepared for a different kind of competition on Saturday: robotic soccer.
The industrial-style robots will head to a national competition in Milwaukee in March.
Engineers from Isthmus Engineering and Manufacturing built a copy of the competition track to help the students fine-tune their robots before the competition.
"We want to try our robot out because we haven't had the chance to put together an arena and work with other teams to get some ideas about what we can do for the last week," said Kutay Musleu, a high-schooler from Platteville.
The competition will feature a robotic soccer game. Students receive a kit with different parts and need to stay within a budget to build their robots.
They get points for scoring a goal, but also for showing off other moves.
