MADISON (WKOW) -- Drums, spoken word poetry, and food were a part of the Black History Month celebrations at the Taft Street Boys and Girls Club on Sunday.
Dozens of people from different communities and cultures gathered to remember African-American heritage.
"We're really excited that the community is coming out," said Michael Johnson, Executive Director of the Dane County Boys and Girls Club. "Today, we just want to focus on celebrating Black history, celebrating the past and the present, and basically highlight African-Americans who have made contributions to their society."
Johnson says this is the fourth year a Black history celebration was held at the Boys and Girls Club.
February is Black History Month.
