MADISON (WKOW) -- Capitol Police are warning those who work in the state Capitol to be on alert for anyone carrying firearms openly Monday.
The concern comes because of a Facebook posting that mentions today is "National Gun Control Protest Day."
Signs posted at the entrances of the building say in all capital letters, "No Firearms Allowed."
Another sign posted says state law prohibits bringing firearms into public buildings, including the Capitol. It says violators could face a fine of up to $1,000.
OpenCarry.org co-founder John Pierce says he didn't know anything about the event.
Nik Clark, president of Wisconsin Carry, says he wasn't aware of anything happening either.
