JEFFERSON COUNTY (WKOW) -- A judge in Jefferson County has denied a motion to find outside jurors in the case of a man accused of murdering a pair of high school sweethearts more than two decades ago.
The judge said Wednesday he believes an impartial jury can be found in Jefferson County and denied the motion filed by Edward Edwards' defense.
JEFFERSON COUNTY (WKOW) -- The defense attorneys for the man accused of murdering a pair of high school sweethearts more than two decades ago are no longer arguing for a change of venue.
Edward Edwards has pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Kelly Drew and Tim Hack, who were found dead in 1980.
Wednesday, the defense filed a motion to sequester a jury from another county.
The defense had argued Edwards cannot get a fair trial in Jefferson County due to pre-trial publicity.
At this time, Edwards' jury trial is still scheduled for June.
