WASHINGTON (WKOW) -- A rebound in the house market couldn't make up for widespread weakness in new construction, as spending fell for a third straight month in January.
The Commerce Department reported Monday construction spending fell 0.6 percent last month, slightly smaller than expected. But experts worry the trouble builders face will likely weigh on overall economic activity in the coming months.
Housing construction rose 1.3 percent. Spending on nonresidential projects fell 2.1 percent.
