MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- Officials at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee detained 15 people after protests about rising tuition.
UWM says those protests turned violent, which led to the students being detained.
The university says about 150 students gathered around an administrative building on campus. They wanted to bring petitions to university leadership.
After one student entered the building to deliver materials to the chancellor, police say that student encouraged everyone else to rush inside behind her. Students threw ice chunks, according to officials.
