Marquette president to step down in 2011

MILWAUKEE (WKOW) --The president of Marquette University in Milwaukee says he's going to retire next year.

Robert Wild, 69, joined Marquette in 1996.  He plans to step down on June 30, 2011.

Wild has raised $725 million in fundraising and other donations for Marquette.  Some of his projects contributed to new campus building projects.

Wild has also contributed to a major increase in applications.  Marquette received 5,000 undergraduate applications in 1996.  Today, the university receives 20,000 each fall.

Wild graduated from Harvard University.
