NY democrat stepping down from House of Representatives
WASHINGTON (WKOW) -- A New York democrat living with cancer is stepping down from his seat on Monday.
Knowledgeable Democratic officials told The Associated Press that Eric Massa, who has announced he will not seek reelection due to a recurrence of cancer, is resigning his seat in the House of Representatives.
The House ethics panel is reviewing a complaint by a staffer who said he felt uncomfortable in a situation with Massa that had sexual overtones.
The freshman lawmaker won a longtime Republican district that was carried in 2008 by John McCain.
