MADISON (WKOW) -- The deadline to file 2009 state and federal taxes is a little over a month away, but state and local officials want to remind citizens that there's still free help available to those who have yet to file.
At the Dane County Financial Education Center Monday, politicians at the state, county, and city level applauded the work being done by volunteers to help people file their taxes before the April 15th deadline.
"This partnership between the state, county, and city is about trying to make it as easy as possible to do something that's really not fun and we need to do each year," said Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk.
Falk was joined by Mayor Dave Cieslewicz, Wisconsin Department of Revenue Secretary Roger Ervin, and employees from the University of Wisconsin-Extensions program who provide volunteers for the tax help centers.
There are financial education centers in communities across Southcentral Wisconsin.
The Dane County Financial Education Center in Madison is located at Villager Mall on Park Street.
