SUN PRAIRIE (WKOW) -- A 10-year old girl who knows how it feels to live with arthritis is named the honoree for the Sun Prairie Arthritis Walk.
The Arthritis Foundation, Southwestern District says Olivia will takes the lead in Sun Prairie on May 8th as they raise awareness in the fight against arthritis. Olivia was 8 years old when she learned she had arthritis in her knees but it doesn't stop her from doing the things she loves. Olivia stays active and enjoys karat, swimming, and doing crafts. "My arthritis has been a challenge because I can't always participate in the things I like to do, but I have learned it's okay if I have to take a break," says Olivia.
An estimated 5,400 children are affected by arthritis in Wisconsin alone. Juvenile arthritis is one of the most common childhood diseases in the country.
