Madison College helps adults go back to school

MADISON (WKOW) -- Thousands of unemployed adults are finding they need to go back to school to compete in today's technology-based job environment.

Now, Madison College is dedicating a new Center for Adult Learning and a New Apprenticeship Center, places that train dislocated workers for high-demand jobs.

Students can choose from twelve specialty fields, including computers and welding.

Many students haven't been in a classroom in 20-30 years, and are in need of basic computer skills.

Current students range in age from 20-60 years old.

State and federal unemployment benefits cover the cost of tuition for many students.
