All parents worry about their children, though the risk of a stroke doesn't cross many parents' minds. But while most strokes, nearly three-quarters, strike people over 65, stroke is now the sixth leading cause of death among young children.
Stroke affects 1 in every 4,000 newborns and 1 out of 8,300 children under 18, according to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Pediatric Stroke Program.
