Stroke now 6th leading cause of death among children

All parents worry about their children, though the risk of a stroke doesn't cross many parents' minds. But while most strokes, nearly three-quarters, strike people over 65, stroke is now the sixth leading cause of death among young children.

Stroke affects 1 in every 4,000 newborns and 1 out of 8,300 children under 18, according to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Pediatric Stroke Program.

ABC's Dr. Richard Besser has the story of a young girl who went from being a healthy contestant on TV's "Toddlers and Tiaras" to losing the use of her left arm and leg. Click on the camera icon to watch Hope Espinoza's story.
