MADISON (WKOW) -- You've probably gotten an official U.S. Census form in the mail.
Crooks are taking advantage of all the publicity surrounding the census to target your email inbox and your personal information.
The National White Collar Crime Center reports an increase in fake emails asking users to download "census forms." They are, in fact, viruses.
"We want to stress forms are only set out by mail," said Brian Grady, the city of Madison's liaison for the U.S. Census Bureau. "The bureau will not email you or ask for your social security number, bank account numbers, or credit card numbers."
