Prosecutors investigate racial comments at N.J. Walmart
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (WKOW) -- Racial comments made over a public-address system at a New Jersey Walmart have prosecutors searching for bias crime charges.
Investigators began looking into the comments on Monday, the day after a man's voice came over the system and said blacks should leave the store.
An immediate apology was offered from the store manager following the announcement. Company officials also promised to try to determine how it happened.
Officials were able to determine that the P.A. system is accessible to the public. Investigators are pouring over security tapes from the store. They say the announcement could have come from about two dozen phones.
