CHICAGO (WKOW) -- Women who don't diet need to exercise at least an hour a day just to maintain their current weight, according to new research.
For those who are already overweight -- that includes most American women -- even more exercise may be needed to fend off flab, without eating less.
Fast walking, bicycle trips and golfing are examples of moderate exercise that can help.
If you don't have time to exercise an hour a day, researchers said even a little exercise is still good for your health even if it won't make you thin.
The findings are based on 34,079 non-dieting middle-aged women followed for about 13 years.
