MADISON (WKOW)-- March 29, 2010 is the first Vietnam Veterans Day in Wisconsin.
The day is set aside to honor and recognize those members of the United States armed forces who served during the Vietnam War.
Governor Jim Doyle signed the 2009 Wisconsin Act 36 on July 20th last year designating March 29th of each year as Vietnam Veterans Day.
The Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, DC has 1,239 Wisconsin armed forces members are listed. There were over 165,000 service members from Wisconsin who served during the Vietnam War.
