SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WKOW) -- Nearly 190 U.S. Army reservists are heading to Wisconsin from South Carolina.
That's for training before being deployed to Afghanistan.
An Army spokesman said Thursday that members of the 323rd Engineer Company are volunteering for the yearlong deployment. The unit is based in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Soldiers will remove roadside bombs in Afghanistan, which insurgent forces use to attack military units and convoys.
A farewell celebration is scheduled April 12 before the unit goes to Fort McCoy in Wisconsin.
