MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- The Milwaukee Brewers kick-off the 2010 Major League Baseball season Monday at Miller Park against the Colorado Rockies at 1:10 p.m.
The Brewers are looking to improve on last year's 80-82 record and capture their first division title since moving to the NL Central in 1997. The Crew's lone playoff appearance since leaving the AL Central was a Wild Card berth in 2008. The Colorado Rockies won the NL Wild Card in 2009.
Taking the mound for the Brewers is staff ace Yovani Gallardo who had a breakout rookie season in 2009, posting a 13-12 record with a 3.73 ERA and 204 strikeouts. Gallardo is 0-1 against the Rockies in his short career, but has a lifetime 8-6 record at Miller Park with a 3.14 ERA.
Starting for the Rockies will be Ubaldo Jiminez who had a breakout year in 2009 as well finishing with a 15-12 record and a 3.47 ERA. Jiminez has made two starts against the Brewers in his career posting a 1-0 record and an impressive 2.77 ERA.
