Vote 2010: Spring election

MADISON (WKOW) -- The polls are open: Tuesday's spring election is well underway with several races on the ballot.

Thirteen school districts in southern Wisconsin will decide on 17 referenda that could chance the future of their schools.

In Waunakee, voters will decide on a school bond for a new elementary school and renovations at the high school. Other districts with referenda include Markesan, Parkview, Portage, Reedsburg, Stoughton and Westfield, among others.

Clerks are reporting higher-than-average turnout rates in places where school referenda are on the ballots. As of 3 p.m., Brodhead, Orfordville, Reedsburg, and Barnaveld turnout is at or above 20%.

Voters in District 4 will choose a new judge for the State Court of Appeals. Dane County District Attorney Brian Blanchard faces Richland County Circuit Court Judge Edward Leineweber.

Polls are open until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night.
