LA CROSSE (WKOW) -- The La Crosse County district attorney says an Onalaska police officer was justified when he shot a stabbing suspect.
DA Tim Gruenke says Officer Jim Page acted in self-defense when he opened fire on a 45-year-old man who ignored commands to drop a butcher knife. Police say them man stabbed his estranged wife in the chest and thigh before setting their garage on fire March 29. The woman survived the stabbing.
The La Crosse Tribune reports the man is hospitalized with gunshot wounds and has not been formally charged.
