MADISON (WKOW) -- Badger fans gathered at bars and restaurants across Madison to cheer on the hockey team in the NCAA championship game on Saturday. Despite a 5-0 loss to Boston College, Badger Nation is proud of its team for making it to the final game.

Fans were thrilled to be screaming "On Wisconsin" for the national title, something they haven't been able to do for four long years.

The last time the Badgers took home the title was in 2006, when they defeated none other than Boston College.

Fans still enjoyed the game day atmosphere, though. 27 News spoke with one woman who came from Milwaukee to relive her UW-Madison college days at State Street Brats. Laurie Loomis is a lifelong Badger hockey fan and she said if she couldn't be at the game in Detroit, she wanted to be here in Madison.

Badger fans say it's been a great season and much better than last season, when the Badgers missed the NCAA tournament altogether.
