MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison School Board approved cuts of nearly $5 million to help close a $30 million budget gap.
The Wisconsin State Journal reports more than $550,000 was from the budget of the tMadison School and Community Recreation programs. That includes a 10 percent increase in program fees for youths and a boost in facility rental rates.
Most other cuts were made in the area of office supply and travel budget, conference fees and other clerical costs across administrative departments.
District officials have not confirmed the number of jobs cut from those departments.
MADISON (WKOW) -- Budget talks dominated the Madison Metro School Board's meeting Monday night.
Members thumbed through a stack of three to four books, detailing the district's 2010-11 budget gap.
There's a $30 million budget gap.
More than 200 cuts are proposed.
The next meeting is Sunday at Warner Park.
The board has until the first week of May to vote on the budget.
