Community Action Coalition looks for volunteers

MADISON (WKOW) --  It's been a year since 27 News began our weekly phone bank with the United Way.

This Monday, we highlight the Community Action Coalition.

The coalition has been working to reduce poverty in Dane, Jefferson, and Waukesha counties for more than 40 years. It was founded in 1966 as part of President Lyndon Johnson's war on poverty.

Specific dates this group is looking for volunteers for include:

  • 2-4 hours on May 8th, working with the annual mail carrier food drive.
  • 1-5 hours at the Farmer's Market, Saturdays May-November
  • 2-3 hours year-round sorting food
